The short version

Envelope Budget: Bill Tracker keeps your money data on your phone. Your envelopes, transactions, income, goals and receipt photos live in a database on the device — we cannot see them, and there is no account to make in order to use the app.

What stays on your device

Envelopes and budgets, transactions and notes, income records, goals and vision boards, receipt photos you attach to a spend, your settings and theme. None of this is uploaded anywhere. It leaves the device only when you choose to export or share a file yourself — a spreadsheet or PDF export goes wherever you send it.

What we do not collect

We do not connect to your bank. We do not ask for or receive bank credentials, account numbers, card numbers or balances from any institution. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Analytics and crash reports

The app sends anonymous product-usage events (for example, "a spend was recorded") to PostHog and crash and error reports to Sentry, so we can see which screens are used and fix what breaks. These are not linked to your identity. They never contain your transaction amounts, notes, category names or photos.

Ads

The free version shows a banner ad supplied by Google AdMob. Plus subscribers and anyone on a free trial see no ads at all. To serve them, Google receives your device's advertising identifier together with general information such as your device type, approximate location and whether the ad was seen or tapped. It never receives your envelopes, transactions, amounts, notes, goals or photos — those stay on your device. On iOS you are asked once whether the app may track you across other companies' apps and websites; if you decline, or never answer, ads still appear but are not personalized. You can change that answer at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Google describes its own use of this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Subscriptions

Premium is billed by Apple through the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see or store your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether your purchase is active, which involves an anonymous purchase identifier and your subscription status — not your name, email or card.

The Vision Board Contest (optional, and only if you sign up)

The app has an optional social feature where you can share a vision board to a weekly theme. It is off unless you use it, and using it requires creating an account. If you do, this is what reaches our server:

  • Your email address, chosen handle and display name.
  • The vision board image you choose to share, your short vision text, and your goal's label plus its progress as a whole percentage.
  • Cheers, votes, comments and reports you send, so other people can see them.

Never any amounts. No balances, no dollar figures, no transactions — the app deliberately sends a percentage instead of money. Shared boards, your handle and your display name are public to other people in the contest; your email is not.

Deleting your data

Money data: delete it in the app, or delete the app — it goes with it, and there is no server copy to ask about. Contest account: open Settings → Account → Delete account in the app. That erases your account, your shared boards and their images, your comments, cheers and votes from our server immediately. You can also remove a single shared board at any time without deleting the account.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
